A heart of roughly-hewed stone in the warmth of wood

Recently refurbished, the design of the four-star Le Morgane hotel is both understated and welcoming at the same time. This is a high-end, contemporary and authentic establishment, significantly influenced by its natural surroundings. This hotel is inextricably linked with the mountains and the town of Chamonix.

Chic, sport, contemporary and fully committed to sustainable development.” The ECART agency (Gilles Leborgne, assisted by Leslie Gautier) succeeded in pulling off the challenge of decorating the hotel and its 56 rooms. “We wanted the décor to reflect the landscape of mountains and glaciers. For us, it was essential to establish a link between the hotel, nature and a modern feel, in other words a resolutely contemporary touch”.

Outside, the masonry is inspired by the surrounding mountains and are painted in a colour that resembles the granite of the valley. The carpentry has a warm brown feel about it with copper columns.

The lobby is made with understated materials such as stone and unhewn timber. There is a parquet floor and slate tiling. Granite sourced from the valley and brushed oak have also been used.

The furniture has been carefully selected to blend in seamlessly with the architecture, thus providing the "chic and sporty" feel. Uncluttered yet warm design featuring the work of Starck, Wegner, Urquolia, Eames… Certain furniture stands out in particular the sofas by Antonio Citterio and Philippe Starck, blending in seamlessly with the architectural work supervised by Tejo Remy.

The result? A high-end, contemporary hotel set in located in the mountains. A happy medium between modernity and mountain range authenticity, between sport and well-being...
