Building work waste

During the hotel refurbishment work, and in accordance with the legislation in force, the waste created during the demolition process was rigorously sorted in order to be recycled. Particular attention was paid to the cleanliness of areas, in order to ensure the highest level of comfort possible for workers. During the six months’ work, some 75 tonnes of waste was sorted.

Water management

Because the flow of water doesn’t need to exceed 5 L/min, we chose to fit out our bathrooms with mixer taps and hydro-economic ventilators in order to limit waste. The different distribution channels are equipped with small water meters and are checked at least once a month.

Materials

In order to reduce our ecological impact as much as possible, we chose to use natural materials rather than plastic equipment, and local materials instead of sourcing from afar without any form of traceability. The stone is sourced from the neighbouring Italian valleys while the wood (Douglas pine and oak) is produced in France.

Noise

In order to develop fair relationships, give local trade a new lease of life, and minimise the impact on transport, we chose to work with local design offices and mainly companies from the surrounding area or region.

Blending in with the landscape

The building was refurbished in such a way as to blend in seamlessly with the style and colours of the neighbouring buildings. Finally, our landscape gardening choices were heavily influenced by local species which can be kept without fertilisers or artificial weed-killer.
